Angel Tree
Let’s make this Christmas a special outreach to those in our community who have special needs. Christmas is coming! And, for many it is a time of need and depression for they fall through the cracks of our society.
They are not poor enough to get help from social services and they are not well off enough to provide special treats for their loved ones for the holidays. Again this year we will be putting up an “Angel Tree” (there will be Angels for each family we recommend. Each of us will be invited to take an Angel and fill the need for the family number and return the items by December 22 (we will be delivering them to homes December 23). There will be an Angel for: (1) Breakfast foods (with suggestions), (2) Gifts for each member of the family (age and gender will be listed if known) and (3) Dinner foods (with suggestions).
If you know a family who needs a little help to make Christmas special this year, please write their names down with address and phone number and how many are in the family (ages and gender if you know them) and give the names to the church office.
Salvation Army - Mitten Box
The “miracle” of Christmas is repeated over and over again through the joy of caring and sharing. The Salvation Army endeavors to bring spiritual light and love to those it serves at Christmas so that the real meaning of the season is not forgotten. Donate a new or gently used coat, hat, mittens or gloves to The Salvation Army.
This winter wear drive begins November 20 through Christmas. Coats, hats, mittens and gloves can be dropped off at the Ithaca United Methodist and can be placed in the Mitten Box in the church entry way (parking lot side). Questions (?) Contact Lois Barden
